SIP AND SAVOUR during our first annual GALLERY CRAWL to raise funds for NEDA and MELISSA'S VOICE!

Like us on Facebook

Friends, girlfriends, friends of girlfriends, men friends of women...husbands, brothers, fathers, everyone!!! Everyone is invited. In fact, this is the must-go-to charity event in Charlotte! Where else can you do a mega wine tasting, enjoy food from 8 restaurants, and see some of the most beautiful art in Charlotte...all for only $25?

It's going to be terrific, that much is true. But the event on September 24th will be more than just food, wine, and displays of exquisite and moving art, (although that sounds pretty good!) 5 teams of professionals from the medical/clinical/counseling community will be at each gallery to talk with you and to share information about these disorders. In addition, Intertwined has been commissioned to create a greeting card and verse to celebrate the event. All proceeds from the sale of this card will go to NEDA and Melissa's Voice.

Please, don't underestimate how important this mission is. The statistics are staggering, and the signs and symptoms of eating disorders are easily masked, but help is only a phone call or click away. If you want to learn more and find out how you can help yourself or a loved one, click here.

This Gallery Crawl is only the beginning. On Saturday, October 22nd, you can also join the NEDA WALK FOR CHARLOTTE. It will be a day filled with fun and activities. Click here to learn more.

A Collector has Abundance

The other day, Allison and artist Karen Weihs were sitting with Lucy on the loveseats in the sunlit Charleston Gallery talking about all sorts of things when the conversation landed on art collection. Karen shared this wonderful statement from her personal blog about collecting art with Allison and we wanted to share it with everyone else. We hope you enjoy what Karen had to say as much as we do!
A COLLECTOR HAS ABUNDANCE
What and who is a collector of art? In my opinion it is more than the dollars to buy a significant piece of art. It is about abundance. ABUNDANCE meaning a gift to the self, or to the soul. It is the desire to make a purchase toward an investment of the spirit, the artist’s creative spirit and the buyer’s acknowledgement of this symbiotic experience. Not only a monetary investment, but an investment of your soul connecting with another’s. The buyer becomes connected to the artist, and harmoniously that connection lives in perfect balance in a space for a lifetime. Art must be purchased at galleries where the dealer can lead the buyer into this experience, and provide the papers and significance to the purchase. A purchase provenance is then made whole. Then when the time comes to be parted, the effort must be made from the owner to place it properly out in the world or will it to heirs, or perhaps place it into the hands of a professional art dealer. There are planners or consultants out there that can help place valuable collections in precise order for their value and provenance. I worry about the people who purchase art to match their decor, when in fact a Monet or Picasso may be dwelling right there in their living room without their knowing. No one knows how valuable or famous an artist will be after time has passed, so collectors need to be wise about its careful planning for their art. The wise buyer makes a choice on fulfillment and desire. I have a collector friend who says, "It only hurts once to buy quality." Her pocketbook diminishes only a fraction compared to her soul lifting with abundance."

We hope that you stop by either gallery soon and let the art we house lift your soul with abundance!

allison sprock fine art: art lovers, visionaries & lucy enthusiasts.

Welcome to art, life, & lucy, the brand new blog for allison sprock fine art!  Our goal for this blog is to facilitate discussion on the importance of art, share with each other how art has impacted our lives, and encourage those hoping to begin a collection of their own.

To introduce ourselves, allison sprock fine art is a gallery with locations in Charleston, SC and Charlotte, NC.  But the word "gallery" hardly begins to describe all that allison sprock fine art encompasses.  Forget the haughty, elitist world of art galleries you're used to and get ready for a refreshingly casual experience.  Come visit with Allison's famous yellow lab Lucy in Charleston and sip on a glass of limeade.  Enjoy a diverse collection of art from around the world in a cozy environment.  Sit on a loveseat and soak in the vibrancy of the colors.  Forget hovering sales people and chat with the gang of asfa.  Escape your to-do list and wander through art for a while.  Fall in love with a painting and get obsessed with originality because every work is one of a kind.  Interested?

If you, too are a lover of art, a lover of life, and a lover of furry friends like Lucy... welcome home!  Now let's talk!  We want to know you.  Tell us what you like.  What you don't like.  What it is about art that interests you most. What you love about life. Ask us questions.  Tell us stories.  From philosophy to philanthropy, we want to hear it all!

We have TONS coming up so be sure to subscribe and stay updated.  We value your feedback... it's essential to a successful discussion blog!

Lucy can't wait to hear from you either!
